The mention of Rickenbacker reminds me to share a silly thing that happened
here at Chez Lennon/Hillis or
The Better Living Through Compression Studio just recently:
Cliff and I were getting ready to go somewhere, and I remembered that he had
borrowed a bass from someone
and it needed returning (I am good for remembering things like that)
anyhow, we were sitting in the car and I said to cliff "don't forget to
return the rickenbacker"
but I was not sure how I was supposed to pronounce it-
being from Boston but transplanted to the Mid-Atlantic...so I sat there
saying
"RickenBAKKER...RickenBACHer...RickenBAKKER...RickenBACHER...RickenBAKKER...RickenBACHER..."
when Cliff interrupts me and says,
"It's a Hoffner"
At that point we both laughed ourselves even sillier than we usually are....
