I must say that the internet is a wonderful thing!

Last Wednesday I read Kevin Mathews note that Steve Ward had released a new
CD. Friday I order the CD from Steve's website. Friday night I get an
email from Steve thanking me for my purchase. And Monday the CD is in my
mailbox!
I've played it twice today and it's a very, very good CD. I really liked
Steve's first solo CD and this one is just as good and will definitely make
my Top 10 for this year (in case anyone is keeping track!). His ex-partner
in Cherry Twister (Michael Giblin) is on a couple of cuts as is the pedal
steel master Al Perkins.
But this whole experience is one of the things I like about our little
"power pop" community! The personal touch.

Also wanted to give a "thumbs up" to John Brodeur for the Big Pop Barbeque
in Albany on July 12. He recommended a CD/record store (The Last Vestige)
which was having a 30% off everything sale (their motto: "Load up on a lot
of music instead of loading down" - or something like that!), the bar had 8
bands on two stages (The Stellas were wonderful as were IKE & Bleu & Trouble
Dolls; the most popular were two bands with whom I was not familiar: The
Damwells & Rocktopus; John's band The Suggestions was hot but it was their
drummer's last gig - hope he can be replaced!), the hamburgers and hot dogs
were free (but watch out for the vegetarian hot dogs - unless that was what
you were expecting!), the crowd was large and the beer was cheap! Didn't
get home until 3:30 a.m., but it was worth the four hour drive (round trip).

So thanks to Steve & to John!

Pop on!
John
