I have a couple of the Datsons era singles that I downloaded from their site
a while back and agreed - a much more pronounced mod / freakbeat sound. I've
been listening to the new one over the last week and I like it very, very
much. In addition to the sounds already mentioned, I think there's a pretty
obvious Zombies influence on a few tracks (T.V. Mystic stands out here, but
I hear it both in the vocals and some of the keyboard sounds). I agree this
is one fine release and have been playing it on my weekly radio show -
calling it among my faves for the year. So it must be, cuz it's been heard
on the radio. Oh yeah, they're playing here in Eugene, OR on Aug. 2. Come on
down.

Myracle Brah: Thankfully, no. They're not so singleminded in their
devotion to any particular retro style. (The press release throws out Air
and Curtis Mayfield as influences, and there's both a little electronica
and a little '70s soul in some of the instrumental passages.) Cotton
Mather: mmmm, a little bit, but more BIG PICTURE than KON-TIKI or COTTON IS
KING. They're also on Rainbow Quartz, if that's a clue.
