>>Carl -- that was a beautiful post.

emerging from a longtime, self-imposed murky-lurky
land to comment to carl:

your post stirred me from passivity in a way no other
could. in a way, you embody a "type" (forgive the
generic lingo) that i adore and admire. now, i don't
specifically know your tunes, but living in the great
central valley that resides above l.a., i am MOST
intrigued. it used to be a coincidence and now is a
private joke that if i love your band (or solo
career), you are doomed to lose your label
affiliation, your support and your drive (and possibly
your life, but i won't dwell). oh, i could go on
about the trip shakespeares, jellyfishes and trip
shakespeares that punctuate my particular pop
death-knells, but i won't.

to get back on point, carl, invite me to your l.a.
gig(s). or better yet, let me host you (room, board,
frozen pizzas and vodka lemonades are the standard
menu) to a barely-attended open mike or even (deep
intake of breath) "scheduled" gig at a local venue
here in sacramento. it is my life's mission (having
discovered nothing else relevant) to expose local,
regional and national musicians to a
generally-accepting local scene and to entertain them
to the fullest extent of my abilites (btw, this
applies to any other l.a. or socal or national artists
braving our "chilly" northern central valley scene).

your post made me laugh, cry and, of course, want
more. i know a multitude/myriad/silly number of
talented local, regional and national talents who have
tour expenses that exceed practical value. my large
one-bedroom flat has hosted many, and many more are
welcome. i know, as some have said, that being "a
mere fan" puts me at a disadvantage for discussing the
detailed and labyrinthine topics of the music
business. but, i have discovered a universal truth
and a kindness that borders on random: sleep on my
floor or couch, eat my food, dj from my somewhat vast
cd collection and leave your imprint on my heart. you
do your part, i'll do mine. stay at my place while on
tour, and i will also hook you up with like-minded
"mere-fans" who can do the same in cities from
albuquerque to allentown.

endorsed by bands from manplanet (minneapolis) to red
planet (san francisco) to once for kicks (seattle) to
the sights (detroit--ask them where the kb resides in
the central valley)--

jen's rock and roll flophouse

p.s. as i am emerging from the lurk/murk must also
give props to all the top fivers who have got me
a-huntin' for new material (bleu is SUCH the
quintessential audities find) and wendie/jocelyn/et al
for the spirited fan versus/avec starving artiste
debate--we are all on the same team--it just takes
serious effort to find the semantics that fit!! you
are both excellent orators and you make audities worth
tuning in to.

ending in a preposition is the way to go...to
