There are those of us here who talk about indie music until our wrists give
out from repetitive motion injuries.  Regardless, a vague ranking of what's
floated my boat so far this year.  I can't help but notice that 12 of the
top 20 albums are debuts, three others are second albums, and there's all
of two artists (Richard Thompson and Dom Mariani) who were making albums 10
years ago.  Oh, and let's see, how many of them came out on major
labels...hmm, one.  Considering all of the frequent whining about how there
are no decent indie artists anymore and the whole music industry is
circling the drain, it seems odd that nobody's yet told all of these
artists to pack it in and apply for that job that just opened up at Starbucks:
