The only thing I can add regarding "Goin' Down" is that it grew out of The
Monkees' attempts to cover Mose Allison's "Parchment Farm," and Mike Nesmith
declaring that instead of covering Allison, the group should just use it as a
template to create their own song. (I've only heard "Parchment Farm" a few
times--and I believe I've also seen it spelled "Parchman Farm" or some other
variation--and while the similarity between the two tunes is there if you know to
look for it, they don't really sound all that much alike; they're certainly
farther apart than, say, "He's So Fine" and "My Sweet Lord," or Rick James' "Super
Freak" and The Romantics' "Talking In Your Sleep.")
