I'm not a huge fan of Radiohead by any means, but the discussion that
came up got me to pull out the wife's copy of the Bends. When I was in
London in 1996 some of my musical pals were raving about it. I've
listened to it a few times, but I've probably heard OK Computer more.

My reaction was once again how much they remind me of Pink Floyd, not a
bad thing where I come from. Obviously the drumming is a lot more
modern, but the textures and production keep reminding me of Rog Waters.
When I saw RH on MTV a few years ago doing OK stuff live this was also
my feeling. I don't think they have the depth of Floyd, a band that
could do a lot with so little. I am talking about post-Syd PF, let me
make that clear. I guess my main complaint is that Radiohead do not know
how to lay back, everything is twitching right in your face. When they
were on SNL playing those songs from Kid A, I just thought it was a bit
pretentious.

My favorite RH song, Palo Alto from that Airbag EP.... I do think I'll
be listening to the Bends again soon. It had some very good things on
it. Someone said they thought it was the most influential album of the
last ten year. I dunno, but then I don't listen to a lot of their
contemporaries.

I will have to give the new one a listen or three

OK?
