This is already done for the folk scene. I have a list of over 100 venues
of this type around th country. Some have even banded together to create a
tour for three of their favorite artists. I'd love to see others in the
rock world do the same, but have yet to convince many to give it a try.
Some artists have had some success doing this with their fan bases, notably
Pat DiNizio (who started doing house concerts 4 years ago, and is the
inspiration for our series), IKE (John Faye has performed house concerts
throughout his career to supplement his regular tours), and Richard X.
Heyman (we inspired him - ours was his first house concert). As long as
it's the artists trying to convince the fans to do this, the result will be
limited to one-off shows. Once fans pick up on the idea of pursuing the
artists, then, as Arlo Guthrie might say, "you a have a movement."

Congratulations! I have no idea where Hampton Roads is, but I will suggest
joining the houseconcert group on Yahoo! to hear some of the experiences of
others who run this type of show.

I eagerly await the day that my name appears on the back of a tour T-shirt!
