they're still quite spendy, but inasmuch as the top 100 book is the SINGLE GREATEST POP MUSIC BOOK EVER PUBLISHED, it's well worth it.  an update comes out about every four years, and it's your lucky day: the next one, "top pop singles 1955-2002," is out next
month.  it's not $100 but it is "or something."  $69.95, to be exact.
