Personally, I think if you're really into either version then you should track down the other. Also, his first real album "Headroom", is essential. A few tracks do overlap with "redhead" but the ones that don't are all fantastic.
It's worthy to note, actually, that in both cases the songs that are exclusive to one version of "Redhead" or the other are all rockin' power-pop type tunes. On the original issue there's "Ursula Major, Ursula Minor", a fantastic song that was likely cut because of its similarities to both "Trust Me" and "Get Up" on the other issue. the original issue also had "Sayonara", an uber-catchy number featuring Puffy AmiYumi that will also be featured as the Japanese-only bonus cut on the new issue of Redhead.
On the new version, there's "Get Up"--easily his bid for stardom, it's a real stomper. Personally I think it's fantastic, though some may feel differently--it's more "rock" than anything else on the disc. The other new track, "That's When I Crash", is a little more cinematic, maybe more in the line of "Trust Me" albeit with a bit more oomph.
To New England-area auditeers: check the used bins at your local Newbury Comics for the original issue of "Redhead". I'm not sure what happened, but I think that Aware/Bleu sold a large quantity of these to Newbury to dispose of in the used bins, and due to our inventory systems we should have one available in every store. I know my store has one anyway, which I could probably snag for someone...
