These were a bunch of ungrateful, unkempt assholes that would still be
selling shoes at Marks And Spencer if Malcolm McClaren hadn't of reinvented
them as England's answer to the Ramones. After they fucked a couple labels
out of a pile of money, tore up the loo at A&M, (or was it EMI?), and
released a record who's only purpose was to be banned and get Nationwide
headlines in the U.K, they made one album and dissapeared like the last
slice of pizza at a frat party.
That said, the whole da da artistry of the entire endeavour was brilliant,
and I ever so much enjoyed Never Mind The Bollocks. Too bad The Stones
didn't get the message and stop their insistent quest for eternal youth and
younger still super models. The Pistols were what the Stones wanted to be,
and never were...the greatest, self destructive, parentally hated Rock And
Roll Band that ever lived...for the perfect amount of time, and the perfect,
smarmy, nihilist, vain-gloriously,talentless epitome of knuckle dragging,
alienated 16 year old boy Rock And Roll. Whatever The Pistols were, they
were the real thing, when nothing else out there came close.
Still doesn't make it good music...any more than Mariah Carey's legs or
Britany Spears's ass makes for a decent song.
