Are you kidding me??  So called "real talent" in the new millennium has been 
ALL about disposable pop music which has its origins in some record company 
boardroom.  I always loved punk for it's honesty, spontaneity, and its gleeful 
gobbing in the face of all that bloated pretentious prog rock.  Many of the 
characters were self-destructive and decadent, but an awful lot of great music 
came out of 70's punk.
