I can't really comment on whether the music industry has died or not...I respect Colter's journey..it must be hard trying to make a living in the music industry that really has no standard...what is good?..what is bad?..how do you know you are good enough?..how many musicians think they are talented but are really mediocre?..how many live in a dream world?

Unfortunately,,really bad talent does not really get punished in the music industry and in some cases gets rewarded..so mediocre talent can live with the dream that they are going to "make it" someday..

In the business world or corporate world mediocre talent gets rewarded during the good times and is the first to get punished during the bad times...During the great years of the 90s a lot of people with limited talent and limited minds got promoted since the job market was so tight..but now..many of those same people are finding out that they were really not very good..since in an economic downturn..they are the first to go..and rightfully so..

But the music business is different, isn't?..since bad talent often sells lots of records and very good talent (like bobby s, jason falkner, doug powell) don't sell many records..but in some cases..it does get it right..good talent sells lots of records and mediocre talent sells few

I guess Gabriel's rant is just to make the point... the music industry does not send mediocre talent the right signals..so a mediocre talent who does not sell lots of records live with the illusion that "just one day..I am going to make it"

interesting..
