ps. This GREEN bonanza is terrific. I checked out the No Cigar website
and will also be ordering their Who tribute (which their practically
giving away for $7.00) along w/Green's "greatest hits" cd. I kind of
gasped at the price of most of the Green stuff @ $20.00 but that appears
to include postage and this fantastic group/guy (Jeff Lescher) is not to
be missed. I have/had so much of their older stuff on cassette. Chicago
rules!

I am very pleased to see several positive responses to the Green news.
The Whodunit tribute ( to the Who) is indeed a great deal.
Two different Who covers by Green (Pictures of Lily and Mary Anne With the
Shaky Hands) as well as Waco Brothers,Dag Juhlin (he of the Slugs and
Goldstars),Hushdrops (they have been discussed here a few years back)
,Dollface and several others. Not bad for 7.00.
As for the 20.00 price,.when these discs were available previously they were
imports from BeNeLux and sold for right around that price. I have not talked
with Jeff about this round of reissues but they may in fact be imports
again. Unfortunately, the old cliche about a band being big in Belgium really
does apply here. With only the exception of a few , the greatness of Green
was rarely appreciated anywhere but BeNeLux and pockets of the midwest
USA.Perhaps these reissues will reach out a little farther.
Jeff Lescher has been working on a solo project for a while. It will be more
like the Jeff and Janet (Beveridge Bean 0f 11th Dream Day and
Freakwater)-Jesus Built a Ship To Sing a Song than Green. Anyone who saw
Jeff's solo show at IPO Chicago (about 15 or so people) had the privilege
of seeing how versatile he is (he covered Pat
Boone,Macca,ABBA,Bacharach,Fleetwood Mac (Peter Green era) and more).
I look forward to more material from him. I would love to see one of the
great labels represented here( that also seeks out better distro than just
the Chicago area) on Auds put some of his stuff out.

To paraphrase the right honorable David Bash....Green Rules!
