yo yo yo:
whilst idling away an idle 4th weekend i watched the
first 5 or so episodes of Cowboy BeBop, some fine
anime if anyone's so inclined to that sort of
behavior, but midway through i think #3 (the one where
the big black guy steals a welsh corgi who can process
data and they have to chase him all over mars or
whatever the hell) there's a chase with incidental
music that sounds an awful lot like the verses of
Imperial Drag's "Zodiac Sign" (but faster, and with
totally different words.) I watched credits to see if
i recognized any manning type connection, but didn't
notice anything. Anyone know? if sturmer-jellyfish
went j-pop with puffy ami yumi, could manning and co.
have relicensed their other stuff for anime/commercial
purpose? or did someone just rip em off plain and
simple?
or perhaps i'm hearing things, but it was my instant
response - "oh, imperial drag - cool."
also: went to see a friend's band saturday and boy,
did they suck. however, the folks that played right
before them were System and Sound, from out portland
way - nicey nice in a math rocky vein: at one point,
my comrade dennis turned to me and said "they sound
like..." and i said "Yes?" and he said, "yeah, that's
it!" (I hadn't meant the band, I was just prompting
him, but he seemed mighty relieved that i'd thought of
it so I didn't disabuse him of the notion. And they
did sound like Yes, a little, in one song.) TIYL
dismemberment plan or dianogah or some o those boys.
Also, i've been plain old ADORING the last alkaline
trio cd, as well as anything i can get my hands on by
Centromatic.
yum, music.

np: system and station - the cd is "If you find me let
me know" and the song np is the Yesesque (type that 10
times fast) "in january."
