I file my various artists comps by pretty unscientific methods but better
for me to access (particularly where I need to reference a specific song
from a specific album for research in my Encyclopedia). I have four
categories:
1) Radio station compilations...featuring independent artists and commercial
comps of bigger names
2) Label specific commercial and promo compilations
3) Commercially released comps by your K-Tels, Ronco's, Syndicate, Jukebox,
Pickwick, etc. companies who do NOT own the material, merely license it from
others (to separate those comps in category #2)
4) Movie, TV and other specialty soundtracks [i.e. HUBBA BUBBA -- the gum
people-- only available when you sent them 1,000 gum wrappers!!]
