Three fine albums played so far --
The new Robyn Hitchcock, LUXOR -- mostly solo with a bit of help from Jon
Brion and others. Not a classic, but some good tunes.
The new Dwight Yoakam, POPULATION: ME -- let's just say he's back in prime
form. Hooray!
Now, I'm listening to the George Usher Group's FIRE GARDEN -- this is an
Audities must -- not a great vocalist, but a distinct appealing vocal
personality and a mastery of jangly pop with bouts of moodiness. I'm a fan
four cuts in --
One more thing -- The Diodes comp Ralph speaks of is terrific -- they were
punk more in line with Rubber City Rebels or Starjets or Radio Stars, i.e.,
they wrote hooky little tunes played with balls. Worth $12 if you're into
that sort of thing.
