I am a new poster to Audites (only 2 days) so forgive me if someone has already brought this to the attention of the group, but Rosanne Cash was a guest on NPR's Fresh Air with host Terry Gross on June 23th, 2003. I was not able to catch it when it first aired, but you can listen to it online at the Fresh Air website. The interview is almost 30 minutes long and touches on her relationship with Johnny and June Carter Cash (who had just died shortly before the interview took place), the loss and regain of her voice, her stance against the Iraq war, the new album, etc, etc. It is a really good interview...here are a few things I found out.

When asked where she got the idea to make a public stand against the Iraq war, she said that her father was the inspiration. Johnny took a lot of heat from southern rednecks for being against the Vietnam war and supporting Civil Rights. Rosanne said she remembers the KKK burning a cross on her front yard when she was 9 years old (!)

When she went on tour with Johnny and June after graduating High School (just to see the world, not sing), they listed her as Laundress on the tour for tax purposes! She remembers washing out a pair of black pants in the bathtub of a hotel....

For anyone interested in Johnny Cash, June Carter Cash or Rosanne, this is a must hear!

By the way, the interview with Rosanne was after a somewhat dull interview with a psychiatrist, but you can click the fast forward chapter button >>l to jump to it.
