THE MODS were from Toronto....and were invited to play Mayday in '79 as one
of the few North American acts in the event. They have a compilation on
Other People's Music called "22 Months". They were one of the legendary acts
involved in The Last Pogo, but the band's real claim to fame was their
drummer......David Quinton....who so impressed Stiv Bators during an opening
slot at a Larry's Hideaway gig that he offered Quinton a job in The Dead
Boys. Quinton accepted. After an album and several tours, though, Quinton
grew tired of the rampant drug use and bailed out just as the shambolic act
started mutating into Lords Of The New Church.

Quinton signed with Bomb Records in 1980, released a self-titled power pop
record. Following that he drummed for the as-yet-famous The Jitters before
leaving them to study LAW!!! Capitol Records signed the Jitters and he ended
up filling in for an absent drummer on their debut record.....Capitol was so
impressed that they offered him a solo deal -- under the condition that he
go on tour as the synth drummer for Strange Advance. The tour made him
realize that the mod and punk music he grew up with had left him behind. He
quit the business and is a very powerful Canadian entertainment lawyer. His
entire solo output is available through Bullseye as "Bombs & Lullabyes:
1980-1988".
