Speaking of "Jodie"...I also have Joey Gregorash's remake of this track from
two years ago that absolutely SMOKES....he twisted it into a swamp-boogie
CCR styled beasty.
Now, there's a guy who went from hip, charting pop material in the early
'70s to complete goo in the arc of his recording career -- he was 17 years
between Top 10 records. The comeback in 1987 was this fluffy wedding pastry
called "Together (The New Wedding Song)". By the time the smoke had cleared
it had sold 5 million copies worldwide....as a 7" single. The song was a
one-off novelty track that was used for first dances at weddings around the
world and when he approached the record company (ATTIC) about a follow-up
track they decided to slam the door shut and not risk losing a single dime
on a potential 2nd single flop.
Joey's still alive and well and living comfortably as a folk artist in
Winnipeg.
