Excuse me if someone beat me to it...
From what I understand, he made his debut a few years ago with a Christmas
album called "Bing Bang Holidang!" that would've slipped under everyone's radar
were it not for the fact that it featured tons of Boston's heavy hitters--like
Dicky Barrett of the Bosstones, Kay Hanley, and more--and was a charity
album. It sold extremely well, I believe it was the best-selling independent CD in
New England that Christmas.
Then Bleu won the WBCN rumble, a competition pitting local bands against one
another where they compete for votes (a la American Idol). The Rumble winners
generally suffer some sort of curse, however, either never really getting
their careers much off the ground or breaking up or something. Still, it's a lot
of publicity. Sometime around this point he also issued his debut, "Headroom",
on Lunch records. "Headroom" has 4 tracks that overlap with "Redhead"
("Searchin' For the Satellites", "Watchin' You Sleep", "3's a Charm", and the first
hidden track on RH "Feet Don't Fail") but is fantastic in its own right, and you
probably want to own it. Prior to the release of "Headroom" he also put out
the "Workaday EP", which has a few songs from "Headroom" plus 3 more.
Did I miss anything? My chronology may be off... --J
