I'm now recalling They Might Be Giant's had a song called "We're the
Replacements".  I only heard it once..fairly silly (big surprise).

David Bowie "Bob Dylan" or is it "Robert Zimmerman"...(more coffee)
Van Dyke Parks "Bing Crosby"

There are probably lots of them...

Other indie artists that I've thought of..

Kenny Howe's "Gonna see Cheap Trick" (title might be wrong..but cool song)

Barely Pink's "City of the Stars" refers to Wondermints and Baby Lemonade.

P.Hux "California" mentions B.Wilson and Ronnie Lane (memory don't fail me
now).
