Ooh I want to play although the songs itself may be fuzzy...
Clash - 1977 had a derogatory remark about the Beatles and
Rolling Stones right?
Bowie liked to namecheck T. Rex in his songs (can't remember
which ones!!!) and um Lennon in Is There Life On Mars,
Townshend did the same in You Better You Bet and also managed
to self-ref Who's Next...Queen sang Mott the Hoople (now I'm
here)- "just Hoople and me"
Dylan mentioned Neil Young in one track (sorry like I said -
fuzzy)
Of course, BNL and TFF both had Brian Wilson in songs as did
John Cale - Mr Wilson
Ben Folds Five - The Cure (?)...ooh there must be more...
