Hello,
The Nuclear Nightclub is by far the most "pop" of all Wigwams releases. Actually almost all the other stuff they ever released were "prog" (mostly excelent though). However, one of the songwriters - Jim Pembroke, who is english not irish, made some pretty good eccentric pop on a couple of his solo LPs. "Wicked Ivory" (as alias Hot Thumbs O´Riley), 1972 and "Pigworm", 1974 and "Corporal Cauliflowers Mental Fuction", 1977 . He also played in Blues Section before Wigwam, with whom he made couple a great pop 7"s although most of their material was "prog", too.

All the best

Subject: Wigwam (melodic, song oriented prog rock)
" ... an album that really caught my attention was Wigwam's 'Nuclear Nightclub' ('75). This Finnish band had
an Irish singer, and this album has a lot of concise, melodic songs,
which I would compare to Caravan/Barclay James Harvest's more melodic
tunes, or like a Canterbury version of Badfinger/McCartney ballads.
Excellent indeed, and although I still didn't listen to the whole album,
of course there seems to be a bit (but not much) of prog-isms here and
there. But nothing that would turn a pop fan away, I guess. I've
searched the net and learned that Wigwam has several albums. This one
was handpicked by my friend as their 'poppiest'. But any other
suggestions on them will be very welcome too.
Rafael."
