I haven't had any recent life changers - it usually takes a few years for
that to happen. But I can think of three or four that were huge in the last
15 years.
A tape of E. Costello's 'Imperial Bedroom' - sent me on a quest for
everything he ever did as well as other Stiff stuff, and other angry young
men Joe Jackson, Graham Parker, etc.
Replacements 'Pleased to Meet Me' - led me to Big Star and a live
Replacements promo with 'Another Girl, Another Planet' led me to Only Ones,
Undertones, Records, etc. etc.
Mono Men 'Wrecker' had me flying to gigs in LA, Chicago, Bellingham,
Vancouver. Led me to The Sonics, Billy Childish, Nomads, Cynics,
Dictators!!, Lyres, Pebbles, Nuggets, etc.
As well as ongoing '77 punk thing starting with 'London Calling' and a love
of country credited to 'Guitar Town'
Those were big 'trigger effect' albums.
