Today's true morning story with musical content (hence my sharing it)....
This morning my wife yelled from the basement "There is an animal peering
in our window, come quick". I ran down stairs to discover that the beady
little eye's belonged to a raccoon. In fact, there are at least two raccoons
and I assume maybe a whole raccoon family. The window they are peering in is
under our deck and thus, we have no access to chase them away. We tried to
scare them out but that didn't work.
My wife called "pest control" and they said to shine the bright lights of
your car on them and play loud music to scare them out. Otherwise, they
could come out for several hundred dollars. I started searching for my car
keys.
While getting ready to do my "scare tactics" my daughter suggested I try
the song "who let the dogs out" since this was really annoying and would be
sure to scare them out. However, just as quickly she added that I probably
didn't have that song.
I went out to my car, turned it into position for maximum glare and turned
on my high beams. I then started frantically searching for the right tune
of the current cd in my 6 cd player in my car. Peggy Lee...NO!,
Jobim...NO!. Beatles?, hmmm, maybe...the first few songs sounded way to
quite. However, in my desperation when I hit "All you need is Love" I
thought this just might do the trick. After all it has a lot instruments,
it's kind of loud compared to everything else I'd quickly considered thus
far. ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE it is!!!!
So, I'm BLARING "All You Need is Love" towards the raccoons and then I
suddenly had a horrific image in my mind. It was an picture of the raccoons
blissfully holding paws in a circle, maybe with flowers tucked over their
ears and rocking back and forth to the vibe of the song. Maybe even other
neighboring critters coming over to join them and feel the love. I shut off
the music, ran down stairs and ran to my old punk section. I dug out "Gang
of Four" and started to blast it.
Well, so far they have not left but dam if Gang of Four didn't sound great
to hear again.
