  My first album story..
I still recall my older brother was shopping with his own money and had
bought 4 of Elvis's records. We had just seen Kissing Cousins at the
Drive-In and we were way into Elvis. I was 5 at the time. My brother had
bought "Kissin' Cousins", "Pot Luck", "It happened at the World's Fair" and
"Fun in Acapulco". At the time, they were IT as far as music was concerned
for me. I remember wanting my own Elvis so bad that my mom later agreed to
buy me one. We pretty much were only buying the Elvis movie titles at that
time. Anyway, when she took me to the store I wanted "Loving You" but mom
didn't like the cover. She preferred "Blue Hawaii" because he "looked
nicer". Despite modest protests from me "Blue Hawaii" was what I took home
per mom using her persuasion and well she had the money. When I got home and
heard it and as I feared, it really didn't sound like the Elvis I was into
...well, I was none to happy. You know, it's really one of those early
memories where you start to get that your parent's are not "all knowing of
everything", as you had wishfully assumed.

Years later, the first album I recall buying with my own money was "Got to
be there" by Michael Jackson. I had bought a lot of singles prior to this.

Hi Patrick, Me too! I really only have rediscovered this song again
recently (didn't grab me years ago I guess). I must say it has climbed to
one of my favorite, if not my favorite, songs by them.

best, Steve D
