Nice thread. I'll be marking this for future purchases as I have become
obsessed with soft pop more then almost any other type of music (sorry
Gabe). Mainly, I'm just wanting to echo my thanks but will add...
I double the Boettcher recommendations. Sagittarius and the Millennium (the
3 cd set) are essential.
Harper's Bizarre is gaa-roooovy in the lightest kind of pop way. On the
other end of the spectrum is Scott Walker whom I love too.
Van Dyke Parks first two discs are odd enough but very cool. Maybe not "soft
pop".
Later day stuff, I'd add Cardinal (soft pop or chamber pop?). Even Doleful
Lion's "Out Like a Lamb" has moments that work in this vein to my ears.
