What kind of a list was that? Sparklejets*UK beat out the Chantays? Hey,
when Sparklejets get on the Lawrence Welk show too, let me know. Did any
other rock groups get on Lawrence Welk? Any historians out there?
And wouldn't Wipeout be the most famous surf instrumental, Pulp Fiction
notwithstanding or even withstanding?
Congrats to SJUK!!!!!
****************
It's usually feast or famine with good music here in NYC. Lately we've been
adding floods as well. The first plan was to see Rosanne Cash out in the
park, but the rain forecast put a damper on that for me. So I changed
to Frank Bango and the Pernice Brothers in Brooklyn. Then I got a call
from someone that there was a concert in an Aids relief bookstore downtown.
Fountains of Wayne plus Jesse Malin plus Amy Correia. Amy didn't do much
for me, same as the first two times I saw her, but Jesse Malin sounded
great in a real nice acoustic set. I'll have to look for his new CD. Adam
and Chris did a double acoustic set of about an hour and fifteen minutes,
even with Chris's cold or whatever he had there. They did pretty much an
even distribution of songs from all three albums to a very crowded house.
I had heard that that the Irving Plaza FOW show next month was sold out,
but they were still handing out flyers, so I'll have to go down and check
on Monday.
