Just received an advance copy of Bazooka!!!, the forthcoming debut CD
by The Star Spangles, and MAN is it invigorating! Pop-flavored punk, heavily
influenced by The Ramones, The Heartbreakers (the album includes a cover of a
Johnny Thunders/Wayne Kramer song), Cheap Trick and The Replacements, this
sounds like what I was expecting of The Strokes (a band which, for me, didn't
live up to expectations). Not for all Auditeers, but for those of us who regard
The Ramones as the greatest American rock 'n' roll band of all time, this is
essential. Street date is August 18th or thereabouts.
