No question each was proclaimed "the new Dylan" when he came out (as were so
many others.) I think Springsteen was a natural for the tag because of the
John Hammond/Columbia Records connection, if not for his actual records.
But then, Mickey Mantle was the new DiMaggio. And Bobby Murcer was the new
Mantle.
I like to fancy myself the new Sherman Boim.
