That's "Romeo's Tune", and that LP (Jackrabbit Slim) is really good. For
those of you who never know the titles, Romeo's Tune is the one that goes
"Meet me in the middle of the night, let me hear you say everythin's
alright". There was another single that got a bit of airplay in the NYC
area, "Say Goodbye to Little Jo". But the song I like best is "The Sweet
Love That You Give Sure Goes A Long, Long Way".
The whole record is very 1977 New Jersey -- folksy singer/songwriter with
horns and a piano player who was apparently possessed with the soul of
Roy Bittan. I would rate Forbert at the top of that genre, with the
Asbury Jukes (not quite folksy) a bit further down and Bruce (who makes
me wanna hang the DJ) at the bottom. IMHO. I always thought Forbert was
much more Dylan Jr. than Springsteen ever was.
Anyway, if you don't give a damn about any trumpet playing band, this
ain't what you call rock and roll . . .

P.S. Looking Glass, who did Brandy (You're A Fine Girl) and just came up
on Audities today, was in fact from New Jersey, having been a Rutgers U.
band. My own band used to do a spruced-up, hornless version of Brandy a
long time ago.
