The very one. He's always been sort of perched between folk and jazz, and
this set leans much more towards the latter; although the guitarist sounds
like he might be Thompson's Pentangle bandmate Bert Jansch -- the one thing
I hate about eMusic is the lack of liner notes -- the saxophonist is the
star of the show. Thompson does get off a nice, concise solo on
"Anthropology," though, and I'm tickled by this album because it proves
something I've long suspected: on the Pentangle's album SWEET CHILD,
there's a song called "I've Got A Feeling" that's simply Miles Davis' "All
Blues" with a Jacqui McShee vocal. Thompson does "All Blues" in this set
in basically the exact same arrangement, with a flute standing in for
McShee's vocal.
