I've actually been compiling a double-lenth 23 song CD of outtakes, demos and cover songs, the majority of it unreleased, which I hope will come out early next year. It spans everything from the humble early Jiffipop days to current. Looking forward to releasing this stuff.
As far as song lyrics go, I've always felt the music/melody/harmony to be most important, and lyrics as means to support the music. Not that I don't think good lyrics are important, just secondary to the music. Some of my favorite songs have no words at all, like the Midnight Cowboy theme for instance. Alot of my songs may be hard to understand lyrically, as their meanings are somewhat personal, and some may have no meaning at all. As in Rocket Chair, there may be one or two lines that people can identify with, like Pat did with the "driving around, listening to music, getting stoned" line, which really is a flashback to my (and I assume his) youth. The first time I hear a song I really dig, most of the time I couldn't tell you one word that was sung, because the music usually always overshadows the lyrics for me. Only after a few times listening to a song do the lyrics become more apparent.
Thanks to Scott, Gary and Pat for their kind words regarding my music...it's always encouraging to hear positive feedback!

Rick G.
