Hey everybody-

We just got this new Rainbow Quartz promo sampler down to the store: Has anybody heard any of the Singles' stuff? The two songs on this sampler are just sooo friggin' good. Really looking forward to this release. "You Can Go, He Can't Stay" is like some glorious intersection between the Who's "The Kids Are Alright" sonically and the Left Banke's "She May Call You Up Tonight" in terms of pop teen angst. I can't stop
playing this track!

Also, re the Stewart/Billy rap flap: My wife has taken a pretty strong interest in the underground hip-hop stuff. Anybody else out there digging Atmosphere, the Roots, Jurassic 5, and especially Blackalicious? I've always maintained that there is an art to writing hooks that aren't necessarily melodic (i.e. the Damned's "Neat Neat Neat", Rancid's "Salvation", Public Enemy's "911 Is a Joke" etc.). And by that
reckoning, Blackalicious's "Blazing Arrow" was one of my favorite Pop Songs of last year, Nilsson sample and all.

Kisses,

Jon
