Idylwild? Are they anything like Wyld Stallyns? (A little "Bill and Ted" /
San Dimas reference for our new member there...although San Dimas has
probably never recovered from being the setting to those flicks.)

Just kidding. I love the new Idlewild...though it's actually a 2002 release
from the UK, even though it didn't make its debut here 'til this year.
Still, "You Held The World In Your Arms" is one of my favorite songs in,
like, years. Absolutely love it...!!!

Other 2003 releases I've been diggin' lately:

Mark Bacino, "The Million Dollar Milkshake": starts great, gets better with
each listen...and given that it clocks in at under a half hour, you get
plenty of opportunities in a day for it to get better...:-)

Michael Carpenter & King's Rd., "KingsRdWorks": another album that feels
more familiar with each successive spin.

Cinerama, "Cinerama Holiday": the A-sides and B-sides from "Disco Volante,"
proving once again that, if David Gedge has enough quality material to put
songs like these on his B-sides, he's a much better songwriter than I ever
gave him credit for being.

Cosmo Vitelli, "Clean": In that I spent a fair amount of my formative years
listening to Depeche Mode, Erasure, the Pet Shop Boys, and God knows how
many other techno-pop wonders, it's no surprise that I really dig this
record.

Erasure, "Other People's Songs": I'm a sucker for an all-covers album, and,
although this isn't the best one I've heard, it's bookended by two stellar
tracks: "Solisbury Hill" and "Video Killed The Radio Star."

Fleetwood Mac, "Say You Will": As Stevie said, "This is like a
Buckingham-Nicks album backed by a power trio." Strong stuff throughout, I
think.
