Yeah...we got the smoking ban out here in Hawaii last
year. I don't smoke but don't feel like people who do
should be treated like second class citizens. It's a
mixed issue for me because I don't like the government
taking away someone's right (or in this case - a vice)
to smoke or whatever they want to do. On the other
hand, as a health issue - I am also one of those
people who the next day or two would have a sore
throat after watching a performance in a smoke filled
club or restaurant.

I can't speak about business going down because they
all appear to be just as busy with customers or
audience members stepping outside for a puff. The
weirdest part is that I didn't pick up on the fact
that I've been going to places that I avoided because
of smoke for the last ten or fifteen years. Just last
week I went to two locations that I remember enjoying
years back and wondered why I hadn't gone in all these
years. "Oh yeah - there used to be a lot of smoke in
this place." I didn't realize that I was one of those
who came back to watch shows or to dine because of the
ban.

Now when Eric Carmen and Todd Rundgren were here last
year performing there was another kind of smoke in the
air that I believe is also banned but that's another
story. Probably another reason that Willie Nelson
does so many live shows here...

Snicker - Snicker,

P.S. Does anyone know what year the Wings song "A Love
For You" on the soundtrack to "The In-Laws" was
recorded? It's credited to Paul only but I get the
impression that it's from the 72-75 period. Here's a
song that was never released for about thirty years
and sounds great.

now playing: "You Got To Serve Somebody"
             - Marianne Faithfull with Jools Holland
and his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra

***Jools second release called "More Friends". It's
great. If you liked his last one with George Harrison
among a whole slew of guest vocalists - you will dig
this one too. Chrissie Hynde, Dionne Warwick,
Stereophonics, Norah Jones, Robert Plant, Bono, Edwin
Starr, Tom Jones, Ray Davies, George Benson, Jeff
Beck, Badly Drawn Boy...even The Blind Boys Of
Alabama. There are 22 tracks on this puppy and all
wonderful.
