If you're sitting next to an infant, you are at the wrong table. Go back to
your table.
The State, in a rare instance of really representing the people and not
corporations, is making a public health decisions. If we had a SARS
epidemic in New York City or Chicago, the only logical response of the State
would be to quarantine. While second hand smoke isn't SARS, it presents
some health hazard, so it fits within something that only a government can
do.
It's an unusual situation -- the number one killer among drugs is
cigarettes. The number two killer is alcohol -- that's still allowed.
Maybe if you want to smoke in a bar or restaurant, you have wear a Get Smart
Cone of Silence, trapping the smoke inside the cone, where it would not
affect others.
