Sure, Iggy's 'Lust for Life' was a bit strange to see
used in a commercial for a cruise line, but not nearly
so strange as hearing a portion of the Velvets'
'Heroin' used in a Nissan ad! I kid you not! I just
saw this spot the other day for the first time. No
lyrics are used, just the low-key intro part. Still,
though! I mean, *I'm* personally offended because a
Velvet Underground song is being used in a Nissan ad,
but I would think the company would be a little
worried about using a song that is not just ABOUT
Heroion, a la 'Lust for Life,' but is actually CALLED
'Heroin,' since I assume people can track down the
music used in its TV spots on the company website.
It's the type of thing Fox News might end up getting
ahold of -- "Which car company is subliminally
promoting drug use to young buyers? We'll tell you,
coming up next on 'The O'Reilly Factor.'"

Up next, Savoy Brown's 'Needle and Spoon' for Oneida
flatware?
