Very likely it is Bill Crandall, former editor of BAM magazine, who
also used to write for the SF Bay Gaurdian when he was on the Left
Coast -- he's now with Rolling Stone in New York. Not sure where he
grew up, but I seem to recall him saying it was somewhere in Orange
County, CA
