Since you asked... turns out it's credits on six "tracks", not six CDs. That makes it so much easier for more to join, eh? And get this -- it looks like there are only 18,000 NARAS members who vote on all the nominations! 18,000 "tastemakers with no taste" who decide who gets a Grammy every year?! No WONDER the award is so damn lame and meaningless -- and no wonder that it goes to the highest sellers and the familiar names -- the labels have had this thing in their pockets forever! No wonder nobody cares -- this voting bloc is made up of old timers and industry geeks! Whose fault is that? Anyone with the credits can join and vote, apparently.

Here's what I say -- JOIN NOMINATE AND VOTE and let's change this bullcrap -- any organized group could easily turn the Grammy's into a way to get unprecedented attention (and sales) for their music.

A "voting" membership is $100 for one year / $180 for two years. I did get the impression from the sign-up process that if you're a graphic designer, you can only vote in the design categories (and so forth) but I could be wrong.

VotingThis classification is for creative and technical professionals who qualify in at least one of the categories of eligibility. If you have received technical or creative credit in any one capacity on at least six tracks or equivalent, you qualify. All recordings must have been commercially released in the United States. Commercially released recordings are defined as being released regionally or nationally through distribution companies/outlets and retail Internet distribution outlets that are generally recognized. Distribution solely through personal sales at performances, retail consignment, Internet consignment or non-retail Internet Web sites is not eligible for Voting qualification.
