Sadly, they didn't.  The copy in Marc Weingarten's "On The Records" sidebar piece in EW specifically cites SURF'S UP as the "must-have" Beach Boys album in this list.   In addition to the title, the single-sentence piece makes reference to "sublimely forlorn pop like 'Feel Flows.'"  Dunno whose fault it was, but the accompanying photo is the cover of SUNFLOWER.

Think about that for a second.  Can you imagine *any* magazine, let alone a major monthly devoted to entertainment and pop culture, pairing the cover art of LET IT BE with an article about ABBEY ROAD?  If anyone still needed a yardstick for how far off the pop radar the Beach Boys have fallen--even for journalists who are trying to give them props--there it is.
