I am really looking forward to this show! I am glad Michael is getting over
to US again. About 8 months ago I first saw Eugene Edwards and he
instantly became a fave. I have raved about him on the list several times.
Really tight 3 piece trio with extremely catchy tunes. If you like 80's
style pop Eugene Edwards will be your cup o' pop.
Last Saturday I ventured out to Pomona to see for the Rembrandts show. Gotta
have my pop fix :-) It ended up being only Phil Solem. He played his
set with 3 piece combo. I am not really familiar with his material but I
was very impressed with the live set. The Records put put on a good set
playing all their standards and some new tunes. The Shambles put on a
really outstanding set. They announced that they have a new cd in the works
and should be out soon. I was a happy popster by the end of the evening,
just too bad that only about 30 attended people the show.
Just found yesterday that LA's 3rd Thursday (which became Wild Honey night
at the beginning of the year) has ended. When I heard this, I was really
bummed out. :-( I think I have gone to everyone one of them for the past 3
years. Being that today is 3rd Thursday I am going into mourning. Yes
this is end of an era.
