It's been years since I saw it, but it was basically the story of a band 
whose dreams of getting famous are destroyed by management, rip-off artists, and 
the cold cruel reality of the music biz.  Some Spinal Tap-ish moments, but it's 
more of a gritty realistic view of the music industry. Reputed to have 
seriously damaged Slade's career due to their fans being confused by the image of 
the band portrayed. I don't have much hope of it being released in the US, but 
if it is, I'll be getting a copy.
