My Top 5 music videos:

1. REM, "Radio Free Europe." Just so damned cool to look at, and that song
remains as vital now as it was when it was released 20 years ago (Good God,
has it really been that long). I was listening to "Murmur," last night for
the first time in a while, and I reminded all over again how much I dug
those guys. Why don't they make a record like that again?

2. Replacements, "Bastard of Young." Well, they did tell them they had to
make a video of the song. No one said anything about them being in it. :)

3. The Church, "Under the Milkyway." I've always imagined that this song is
what a rainy day sounds like on tape, and the video captures that dreamy
vibe perfectly.

4. Elvis Costello, "Every Day I Write the Book." One of the first videos I
ever saw -- I think I was about 12 or 13. It just stayed with me. Love that
keyboard riff.

5. U2, "Sunday Bloody Sunday" (live at Red Rocks). I was 13, and this was
the first time I realized music could be a transcendant force. Not long
after, based primarily on Adam Clayton, I started playing bass, thus
sparking an addiction that's lasted more than 20 years.

John.
