With high expectations, I went to see the Apples In Stereo a couple of days ago. But what a disappointment this show turned out to be... I should have guessed, as their latest album is so radically different. All the songs are covered in a layer of distorsion that must leave all pop fans looking for those great songs and nuances really puzzled.
I kind of expected them to play the new songs that way, but seeing they treated the old material that way too was too much for me. Agh! :-) All the nuances were gone in favor of a LOUD LOUD set, with distorsion covering everything. What a shame.
As a friend pointed out, they seemed the Apples In Mono instead.
And no wonder, as Robert Schneider said to us at the end of the show: "thanks for letting us deafen you".
Anyway, I bought a t-shirt at the concession table for old times' sake...
