Well, I am proud to announce the new below regarding The Shazam. It's not
often we here can celebrate 'one of our own' getting a chance at national
exposure and tout a trend that maybe, just maybe, there's a growing larger
audience for some of the music we're so passionate about.

Okay, it's not quite a spot on "The Tonight Show"(ugh!) or "Conan
O'Brien"(*not* 'ugh!'), but Team Shazam is working on it! :-D

Just curious, what folks on this list think about the idea of having a band
like The Shazam reach a national audience via a commercial. A beer
commercial, at that. (at least, it's not more tits and ass!). It still
blows my mind to hear Iggy Pop, Wire, Buzzcocks and such get national spots
in the US----it's a long way from Neil Young's protest of "This Note's For
You" back in 80's. While it makes me cringe thinking of The Clash being
used in a commercial(Joe Strummer deserves a pass on that tone, god bless
him for all eternity), but for me, even though The Shazam is obviously near
and dear to me, I very much am glad to see ad agencies reaching out using
cool music, more and more.

So, just curious if folks on the list here, have any feelings, excited,
aghast or otherwise on The Shazam making inroads via this fashion.

Kind of off the subject: is there a web site out there that folks know of
that sort of collects info about music used in commercials? When any us
hear a cool song inside a pitch on TV or radio and don't know who it is, how
does not easily find out 'who was that band?!'.

Anyway, here's the info! :-)

Shazam Track Used In New Coors Original TV Ad Campaign

The Shazam's "Goodbye American Man" has been selected by Coors
Original for use in their new "Guys Night Out" television ad
campaign. The first spot airs Thursday, May 8, during NBC's "Friends."

"Goodbye American Man," from The Shazam's new album Tomorrow The
World, is featured in the commercial entitled "Rules," which outlines
the rules for "Guys Night Out" ("Rule #44: If it doesn't smell wear
it").

Coors Original, the beer Adolph Coors first brewed in 1873, searched
for months for just the right music and felt that nothing personified
the sound of ultimate guys night out the way "Goodbye American Man"
did.

Created by FCB Chicago, the "Guys Night Out" commercials were
directed by Douglas Avery through Villains Production Company. The
spots will rotate for a one-year period on Comedy Central's Man Show
and The Daily Show, ESPN's NHL Games, NBA programming (on TNT, ABC)
and some select primetime slots on NBC and CBS.

Viewers can find out more about the music used in the new Coors
Original TV ad campaign by visiting www.coors.com and clicking on
"Talk to Us" or by calling 1-800-642-6116.

Be sure to visit the official Shazam website at www.theshazam.com.
