I liked the early anti-videos like the ones mentioned
already by The Mats and R.E.M. -- from just a bit
later in their careers, always kind of dug 'It's the
End of the World As We Know It' and 'Alex Chilton.'
So definitive of those bands at those times. Pavement
put out some really great, really surreal videos in
the mid-90s for songs like 'Cut Your Hair' and 'Gold
Soundz' (where the band members are all dressed up
like Santa Claus, and seem to be engaged in a hunt!).
Also like Bjork's 'It's Oh So Quiet' in the big
technicolor musical style.
Of course the first video I remember really being
struck by was Utopia's 'Feet don't Fail Me Now' with
Todd & co. all dressed in bug costumes, but I don't
know that I would go so far as to say that's one of my
favorites!
