Subject pseudo-bands on "American Dreams"

I've never seen the TV show "American Dreams," but I have certainly noticed
the promos for it; apparently, most (all?) of the episodes feature
modern-day music acts doing full-on "tributes" to classic performers from
the 60s-era setting of the show. (For instance, this Sunday, Third Eye Blind
will portray the Kinks.)

I have a question for anyone who watches the show: Does this gimmick suck as
bad as it seems it would?

who will actually be away from LA the week that all the Auditeers seem to be
coming to town. Anyone want to give my cat his diabetes and hyperthyroid
medications while I'm gone?
