Yes. Eh.
(A slightly less abbreviated opinion: the instrumental textures are
typically gorgeous, and the fact that about a third of the album consists
of instrumentals plays to its strengths. However, the songs themselves are
nothing special, with the duet with Bono a particularly lame offering.
Daniel Lanois should be making less sructured, purely instrumental music,
perhaps along the lines of his old fellow traveller Jon Hassell. That's
what he would really excel at. As someone making pop albums, he just
doesn't rise much above ordinary.)
